Abrasive Blasting

Abrasive blasting prepares the metal surface by removing any corrosion or previous coating, and providing a profile for the paint to adhere to.

Masterblasters follows the international system of blast process classing. This class gives four levels of blasting: Class 1, Class 2, Class 2.5 and Class 3. Blasting the surface provides the profile for the paint adhesion.

Class 1 is a whip blast which used over clean steel. Used for indoor items and light commercial eg trailers.

Class 2 is used to remove some mill scale and light rust. Used for slightly more demanding environment.

Class 2.5 is used to remove all mill scale and virtually all rust. Used in aggresive and/or external environments.

Wet Coat Painting

Wet coat painting is the application of industrial quality primers and paints. After surfaces are prepared properly by the blasting process, the surface is primed. The primer is selected depending on the level of preparation and/or protection that is required.

Depending on the client's requirements, there may be a intermediate coat of paint.

The topcoat is then applied to provide weather protection, colour and a level of gloss if required.
